  1. Upgrade Tutorial: Searching MSDSonline Then & Now

  2. Welcome to the Tutorial! Previously in your HQ account, MSDSonline Search allowed you to search the MSDSonline database of over 4 million MSDSs. In your upgraded HQ account, in addition to searching the database, you now have a number of new features that make searching for an MSDS easier than ever. Let’s look at the differences on how to search the MSDSonline database, then vs. now.

  3. Accessing MSDSonline Search - Then In your HQ, there was a left hand navigation that held many of your tools, including a link, “Search MSDSonline,” that brought up the MSDSonline Search tools.

  4. Accessing MSDSonline Search - Now Today, you can click the MSDSonline Search tab to jump directly to the MSDSonline database. You can also set this as your default home page in Setup.

  5. Searching MSDSonline Search - Then In the past, searching the MSDSonline database involved using multiple search fields and deciding what type of search you wanted to perform (Full Text, Contains a Match, or Starts With).

  6. Searching MSDSonline Search - Now Today, a Single Search field allows you to search by multiple types of data at once (Product Name, Manufacturer, CAS #, or Product Code). Our new Search automatically searches by Full Text and Contains a Match at the same time, making this Search our most flexible and reliable Search yet.

  7. MSDSonline Search Suggest – Then Search Suggest used to be a basic list of items based on popular searches.

  8. MSDSonline Search Suggest – Now Search Suggest Our Search Suggest has been enhanced to show the most popular search terms based on multiple types of data. Additionally, we give you an estimate of how many results you can expect, which can help you narrow your search. Simply click on a search suggestion to add those terms to the search field.

  9. Adding MSDS to the eBinder - Then In the past, adding MSDS to your eBinder just required clicking the “Add to eBinder” button above the search results.

  10. Adding MSDS to the eBinder - Now Product Options Tray Today, after selecting MSDSs to add to your eBinder, the Product Options Tray appears to help you route your MSDS to the correct location.

  11. Adding MSDS to the eBinder - Now Add Products Directly to Locations from MSDSonline Search From the Product Options Tray, you can also add your selected documents to their locations. Quick Tip: If you need to create Locations, go to Setup > Manage Data.

  12. Searching MSDSonline Search – Additional Updates Narrow Results Our Narrow Results filters help you focus your search, allowing you to a select specific Manufacturer, Revision Date, or Language.

  13. Searching MSDSonline Search – Additional Updates New Page Controls – Sort By and Per Page Sort By allows you to set how your search results are organized and displayed. Per Page allows you to decide how many results to display on one page.

  14. Searching MSDSonline Search – Additional Updates Versions Grouped Together New and old versions of MSDS for the same product have now been grouped together, making it easier to find the most up-to-date MSDS, or previous versions for your archive.
