Final Assessment plan

Join me in advocating for the revival of Great Keppel Island and supporting small towns across Queensland. I promise to stand up for forgotten communities and push for sustainable development. Let's work together to boost tourism, create jobs, and protect marine life. From childhood memories to concrete promises, I am committed to making a difference. Are you ready to support this vision for a brighter future?

  1. Final Assessment plan Tayla Hill

  2. Start with personal introduction: • I grew up in a small town, I grew up surrounded by working class people and I grew up knowing the meaning of putting in hard work. (repetition, Parallelism and the rule of three) • Small towns deserve someone that is going to stand by them through thick and think. Big Australian cities should not be the only places that matter. 3. Introduce the topic of my speech: • When I was growing up, I grew up on Keppel Island. My family went there every chance we got and I remember meeting people from all over the world, from all walks of life over there. • I spent my childhood years running across the hot sand and diving into crystal clear water. I recall the sounds of the resort and the feeling it bought with it. • I used to work for the ferries taking people to and from the island, I experienced the heartbreak first hand when people who had not visited for years saw what had happened to their beloved island. • The island was home to a community and it was a place that brought tourists from all over to a small town that would otherwise go un-noticed. Photo of me as a child on Keppel Island

  4. Introduce the issue: • I also grew up watching this beautiful place deteriorate before my eyes. • I watched communities fall apart and turn to opposite sides of a never ending debate. • Something like this would never happen in a large city like the Gold Coast. Photo of Keppel Island now

  5. My promise: • I promise I will be the spokesperson for small towns. I will not let them be forgotten and I will start by standing for the re-development of Great Keppel Island. • The government has currently promised that there will be $25 million put towards supplying water and power to the island. • If I am elected I promise that I will ensure that this does happen and that all works regarding the island will be fast tracked. I will not back flip on this promise. Slide of promises being made regarding GKI

  6. I will ensure that construction goes ahead in a timely matter. • The buyers of the resort/island will have my full support and I will ensure that any work that happens during construction and operation will be locally sourced from Queensland. Picture of resort plans

  7. Extra Promises: • I will ensure that the old underwater observatory is restored and re-opened. • The facility will provide a place for children and adults alike to be educated on the Great Barrier Reef and marine life. • The tourists who come to visit the island will have the opportunity to see the reef and be educated on how they can help to protect it. Photo of the old under water observatory

  8. Extra promises: • I will crack down hard on illegal fishing all across the Great Barrier Reef. • The eco friendly resort on GKI will include a marina which will decrease the time it takes for police boats and marine protection agencies to catch law breakers in the area. Photo of the reef

  9. Why should people care? • The revitalising of the island will boost QLD tourism and therefore, boost QLD economy. Queensland tourism statistics

  10. Why should people care? • More tourism= more money= more jobs (repetition, Parallelism and the rule of three) Statistics on the economy in QLD

  11. More promises: • I believe in community, I believe in listening to what the people want and I believe I can be the one to give the people what they want. • I will give the community what they want, and most importantly I will give the community what they need. Photo of community

  12. Great Keppel Island is just the tip of the iceberg. • Small towns everywhere across Queensland will have my support. Map of Queensland

  13. Conclusion: • Re-word and repeat introduction and re-state my promises to the people. Picture of me
