  1. My unit 4 vocab By Trevor Dunn

  2. Decimal point • A decimal point is a dot that separates the ones tens and so on to the tenths hundredths and so on. • this is a example of number with a decimal point: 4.89

  3. Dividend • Dividend is the number being divided. • here is a example of dividend. 8/2=4.

  4. Divisor • Divisor the number that you are using to divide. • here is a example of the divisor. 8/2=4

  5. Map scale • A map scale is a tool that helps you estimate how many miles there are in a place. • here is a example: 1 inch = 200 miles

  6. Multiples • When you skip count by a number, your counts are the multiples of that number. • Example: 5,10,15,20 are multiples of 5.

  7. Quotient • A quotient is the answer of a division problem • Example: 42/6 =7. 7 is the quotient.

  8. Magnitude estimate • Magnitude estimate is a rough estimate where you decide if it’s in the 10’s, 100’s, 1000’s and so on. • Example: Say you have 146, and the magnitude estimate is 100, and say you have 289, the magnitude estimate would be 300. Add them together and you get 400.

  9. Remainder • A remainder is what is left in a division problem that is less than the divisor. • Example: 42/5 = 8 with a remainder of 2.

  10. Variable • A variable is a letter that you use to represent a number on a problem. • For example 10 + 13 = F. F is the variable.
