F/V T W LEGACY Incident: • Vessel grounded on Decatur Island • Tide refloated vessel away from island and sank • 50 gallons of diesel onboard Impact: • A sheen developed ivo of the vessel for 5 days • OSLTF opened • Safety concerns for dive ops
Barge ST. ELIAS Incident: • Barge aground on Belle Rock • Barge refloated due to incoming tide • 10ft x 10ft hole found, but little impact to vessel stability Impact: • Max fuel capacity is 20,000 gallons, but verified no fuel onboard • 37K lbs of high explosives onboard • Possible multi-day event if vessel didn’t refloat
M/V JUSTIN Incident: • Vessel sank alongside a crane barge • Vessel punctured the barge, divers plugged the whole • Large crane barge brought in to raise the vessel Impact: • 300 gallons discharged • Skimming and diving operations conducted • Difficult salvage conditions • Highly visible area, large media interest
