Carbon Analysis Test Program at MeadWestvaco Corporation

This test program conducted by the Carbon Department at MeadWestvaco Corporation in Covington, VA aimed to assess the performance and capacity of carbon canisters under standard conditions. Testing results showed no degradation in capacity, maintaining regenerable carbon capacity throughout the test period. The study concluded that carbon canisters did not affect boat performance and were resilient to physical stresses associated with marine use. Future work includes further analysis to optimize carbon canister performance.

  7. Summary • Testing showed no degradation in capacity due to moisture or liquid gasoline exposure • Regenerable carbon capacity was maintained throughout test period • Carbon capacity was unaffected by physical stresses associated with marine use • Carbon canisters did not affect performance of boats

  8. Future Work • Carbon canisters will be removed from boats and tested for particle size distribution, heel analysis, and capacity • Two canisters will remain on boats for long-term testing
