  1. TINS FOR TOYS - Toy SALE BY 5/6SP Friday 11th July AT LUNCHTIME IN THE SKILLS CENTRE Come to our second-hand toy sale to raise food for our local Food Bank where children can ‘buy’ toys but pay for them with food donations instead of money! The food will be given to our local Fosse Food Bank Centre at Kineton, to help hungry people in this area. What is a Food Bank? A Food Bank is a place that gives food to people who don’t have enough to eat. The food is donated by people who want to help others in need. The Fosse Food Bank works in partnership with The Trussell Trust (a Christian charity) providing emergency food for UK people in a crisis. These people do not have enough money to feed themselves and their families. They may not have a job, or have been too ill to go to work or just cannot afford to buy food because it is getting more and more expensive! Every day, parents skip meals to feed their children and people are forced to choose between paying their rent and eating. How can you help on Friday 11th July? Come along to the toy sale in The Skills Centre at lunch time to buy some toys, but instead of money, bring some food donations to buy the toys with! What type of food can I bring? Here is a list of food (that is within it’s sell-by date) the Food Banks would like to receive. It is all non-perishable (meaning it will last a long time and does not need to be stored in the fridge). Instant coffee. Soup Long life fruit juice Pasta Tinned Vegetables Chocolate Fruit (tinned) Rice or pasta Tomatoes (tinned) Tinned Fruit Instant mash potato Sugar Breakfast cereals Tinned meat Rice Pudding (tinned) Tinned fish Biscuits or snacks Tea bags Sponge Pudding (tinned) Pasta sauces UHT Milk (long-life milk) Where are Food Banks? Food Banks are all over the UK. St. Peter’s Church in Kineton is a central Food Bank collection point, from where food is distributed around our local area (which now includes Bishops Itchington, The Graham Adams Centre in Southam, and Wellebourne) to help families in need. There are over 420 food banks in the UK and the number is rising by the week because so many families are finding it difficult to feed themselves. • Where can I get more information? • Members of Class 5/6SP will be making presentations to each class, next week, when questions can be asked. • Look at the Food Bank website: www.trusselltrust.org.uk and Fosse Food Bank has its own website: www.fosse.foodbank.org.uk • Ask any member of 5/6SP. What can you do now to help? As soon as possible, please bring into school any unwanted, good quality, toys that can be sold at the Toys-for-Tins Sale. Please put toys in the boxes outside 5/6SP’s class room. If you unsure, ask any member of our class.
