WHO ARE WE?? Southern Crescent Technical College • One of the largest technical colleges in Georgia • Established July 2010 from the merger of: • Flint River Technical College (FRTC); and • Griffin Technical College (GTC) • Combined student population of over 6,500 credit students

Southern Crescent Technical College • Serves the workforce and community needs of the over 500,000 citizens • Serves 10 counties of the South Atlanta region including; Butts, Fayette, Henry, Jasper, Lamar, Pike, Spalding, Talbot, Taylor, and Upson counties • Serves an additional 3,500 students per quarter in Adult Education and Continuing Education programs • Offers nearly 200 associate degree, diploma, and technical certificate programs

GETTING STARTED... Southern Crescent Technical College Visit www.team.georgia.gov to: • View and print out your paycheck stub • Review and update your personal information • Review your pay and compensation history • Update your direct deposit and other deduction or contribution information NOTE - If you change your direct deposit routing or account number, your check will be mailed for that month and direct deposited the following month.
GETTING STARTED… Southern Crescent Technical College To log on to www.team.georgia.gov: • Click on “View My Paycheck” • Type in your User ID and Password • Contact Human Resources to obtain your User ID • Use Social Security # for initial password, then create new password • Create new security questions, if you have not done so • Click “Employee Self Service”
ELIGIBILITY Southern Crescent Technical College Must be Pell eligible Must participate in a Pell eligible program Receive Pell awards Work up to 20 hours per week only Must be in good academic standing Unable to work between academic terms Expected to practice good work ethics
WAGES AND TIMESHEETS Southern Crescent Technical College • Federal Work Student Students are paid $8.00 an hour • Paid by a federal grant with federal funds • Pay based upon hours worked • Pay requests must be submitted by 15th of each month • Late submission of pay request will be paid on next month pay cycle • Pay requests must be signed by your immediate supervisor or the FWS Coordinator
GETTING YOUR PAY CHECK Southern Crescent Technical College • First pay check is mailed to home address • Pay checks are distributed on the last business day of each month from the State Accounting Office • Subsequent pay checks are direct deposited • Problems? DOCUMENTS Southern Crescent Technical College Southern Crescent Technical College is a registered participant in the federal work authorization program commonly known as E-Verify. The College utilizes the program to verify employment eligibility of all individuals hired on or after July 1, 2007. The following are examples of the documents which must be collected: • Government Issued Identification (Drivers Licenses, Passport, etc.) • Social Security Card, Employment Authorization Card, Voters Registration Card, U.S Military card, Birth Certificate
TRAINING Southern Crescent Technical College Ethics in Action • All employees are required to complete the online “Ethics in Action” training • Long on to http://eeserver.dtae.org • Click “Go” • Enter your employee identification number • Enter your birthdate (MMDDYYYY)
COMMUNICATIONS Southern Crescent Technical College All information pertaining to the College will be provided via the www.sctech.edu website and/or your @sctech.edu email account!! SCTC does not utilize personal emails to communicate College business. Therefore, please make sure to check your @sctech.edu email account often.
SAFETY Southern Crescent Technical College All federal work study students must wear college identification badges at all times. All student vehicles must have a college decal clearly visible at all times.
SAFETY AND SECURITY INFORMATION Southern Crescent Technical College In advance, locate the nearest: • First Aid Kit • Fire Alarm • Fire Extinguisher Become familiar with the following resources and procedures: • Campus Security • Evacuation postings in classrooms and hallways • Emergency evacuation routes Plan ahead for assisting students with limited mobility during an evacuation
Performance Evaluations Southern Crescent Technical College Each student will receive a performance evaluation at the end of each academic term Discuss any work related problems with your immediate supervisor or federal work study coordinator if performance is not satisfactory You are here for academic reasons first!

HARASSMENT Southern Crescent Technical College Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated • One person’s kidding around is another person’s harassment. • Faculty, staff and students are expected to behave in ways that cannot be misinterpreted. If you observe or experience harassment: • Put a stop to it if you can!! • If you need assistance, report it to your supervisor, FWS Coordinator and/or Human Resources.
WORKPLACE VIOLENCE Southern Crescent Technical College Southern Crescent Technical College is committed to providing all employees, students, volunteers, visitors, vendors and contractors, a safe and secure workplace and/or academic setting free of intimidating, threatening, or violent behavior. Any violent act, threatening or disruptive behavior, language, or communication in any form including telephone, facsimile, electronic mail or written communication shall not be tolerated.
WORKPLACE VIOLENCE Southern Crescent Technical College Any one who believes that he/she has been subject to workplace violence should report the matter to the FWS Coordinator and/or Human Resources. Any one who violates this policy shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

STUDENT PRIVACY Southern Crescent Technical College Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) protects privacy of educational records: • NO education records will be released to anyone, except certain organizations stipulated by FERPA, without the written consent of the student • Safeguard student’s social security numbers • Do NOT give out student contact information • Student directory information can be released without consent • Questions should be referred to the Registrar’s Office.
E-MAIL AND INTERNET USE Southern Crescent Technical College All information created, stored or transmitted by Southern Crescent Technical College computers or networks is subject to monitoring for compliance with applicable laws and policies. Specifically prohibited: using email or the internet for personal commercial activitiesusing email or the internet to access obscene material using email or the internet for any abusive or destructive activity
SEVERE /INCLEMENT WEATHERSCHOOL CLOSING Southern Crescent Technical College The President or his designee may allow for a campus/center closure if severe weather conditions exist. If weather conditions warrant a closing, late opening, or early closing of the college/center, employees directly affected by such conditions will be excused from duty without loss of pay or use of leave. Employees on a regular day off or otherwise not affected when their office or work place is closed, because of severe weather conditions, will not receive additional time off or other considerations because of closing.
