Boulder Dam, 1984,Boulder Dam Colorado River The lighting used is natural outside. The direction the light is coming from is on top. The lightning makes the picture look good. The main subject in the photograph is the dam. I can tell because the big rocks and river led to it. The composition on this photo is the rule of thirds and they have more rocks and water and the dam and less sky because it is not interesting. There is all kinds of textures. The water is rough in some places where it goes fast and smooth where it is calm. The rock are rough, edgy, and not smooth at all. The photographer is trying to communicate how the Boulder dam looks like and it’s capacity. The reason I choose this photo is because it had the year it was taken at and I like pictures that have water in them.
Zion National Park, 1941, Rock formation against dark sky The lighting use is natural lighting and it is coming from behind him. The lightning makes the snow look super bright. The main subject in the photograph is the mountains. I can tell because it is the only object in the photo. The composition makes the photo so striking because the lighting makes the snow look so cool. Because everything is black and it is the only thing white. The texture makes the the mountains look like they have cliffs. The photographer is communicating how the mountains look like when you are close up. I selected this photo because it had the year it was taken at and the mountains looked cool with the snow.
Grand Canyon from N. Rim, 1941, Grand Canyon National Park Arizona The lighting used is natural. The direction it is coming from is from above. The lighting makes the photo half bright and half dark. The main subject is inside the canyon. I can tell because The canyon lines lead to the bottom. The composition makes the photo so striking because half of the photo is black and the other half is white. It reminds me of good and evil. It is balanced of color. The canyon lines look so defined and sharp looking. The photographer is trying to communicate the importance of balance and hoe balance makes the photo look more interesting. I selected this photo because it had a year and I liked how the photo showed balance of brightness.
Church, Taos Pueblo, New Mexico, 1942 The lightning used is natural. The light is coming directly in front of the photo. The light makes the the top of a wall black. The main subject is the double doors. I can tell because an arc is framing the doors. The composition of the photo make it so striking is how they took the photo to look like the arc is framing the double doors, and the angle he took the photo at makes every look so alien. Photographer is trying to communicate that they have a religion in that religion and a place to practice it at. I selected this photo because it had the year it was taken at and I liked how he framed the double doors.
At San Ildefonso Pueblo, New Mexico, 1942 The lighting used is natural. The light is coming directly towards the girls. The light is so bright that they are squinting. The main subject isthe two girls. I can tell because the staircase leads to them. And they take most of the photo space. The composition makes the photograph so striking because of how the girls are poisoned and how the stairs lead to the girls and make it a special touch to the photo. The lightning makes the picture look like it is hot were there are at. The photographer is trying to communicate that in those pats of the world it is hot and bright during the day. And show us how stairs look like there. I selected this photo because it had the year it was taken at and I liked how the two girls were positioned and how the camara angle was.
