National Occupational Standards (NOS) Programme • 3 Nation commitment to NOS • Skills Development Scotland (SDS) manage the NOS Database and the commissioning process for the review and development of Standards & Frameworks • All continue to work together to put in place a longer term solution

  3. National Occupational Standards (NOS) Programme • 2016-17 delayed issuing of contracts • Overall 90.5% of projects delivered • 83% of NOS projects delivered • 2017-18 contracts issued / projects agreed • 13 of 18 Occupational Groups • Current ITT for remaining 5

National Occupational Standards (NOS) Programme • Strategic Direction from NOS Governance Group • Coordinate policy of strategic issues on behalf of the DAs • Ensure NOS reflect skills and learning policies across the DAs and provide support to employers who access them • Ensure NOS meet the needs of learners, businesses and other stakeholders across the UK

National Occupational Standards (NOS) Programme • UK NOS Panel • Works on behalf of the DAs to ensure requirements of the NOS quality criteria are met and there is adequate consultation in each nation • Report to the NOS Governance Group on behalf of the DAs • Quality Assurance of NOS content by SQA Accreditation

  6. National Occupational Standards (NOS) Programme • NOS review and development continues to require 4 Nation input • Issues for English employers? • Devolved Administrations’ continued dialogue with England

  7. National Occupational Standards (NOS) Programme • Additional support for NOS review and development • Review and revision of the NOS Quality Criteria • Feedback from Delivery Partners, Standards Setting Organisations, to feed into the NOS Governance Group
