Dokaðu ViðIslensk ópera fyrir unglinga Vitor Hugo November 2008
This web page was designed by Margrét Friðriksdóttir, and it tries to awaken the interest of teenagers for the Icelantic opera. • The web page can be found at the following. • http://www.nams.is/dokadu_vid/index.htm
On the main page of this site the student can observe all the movements of the opera Dokaðu við. • By clicking in each movement the student can get all the information about the story behind the music piece.
The student can open each movement in the windows media player and listen to the music with and without the singing. • The web page also offers the possibility for the student to follow the musical notes while listening to the music.
For the schools who are equipped with the software Sibelius the student has the option of opening the music in Sibelius and try to compose different versions of the musical piece.
I recommend the music teachers to introduce this web page to their students. This page suits both younger and elderly children. • In my opinion introduction to the art form of opera is essential to the positive development of the student’s musical knowledge.
