The composites industry transformation could be accelerated if education and training institutions would… Identify the needs of industry. Identify the educational needs for future Hiring. • Ask current employers what their needs are in future hiring • Create more partnerships with the industry specialists so we can understand their desired training needs Training • Work together to produce low cost training • Enhance their training programs • Make more classes available Awareness • Build public awareness • Raise awareness of their services and resulting high pay/high demand occupations Continued networking opportunities that can lead to collaborations • Continue to collaborate • Offer ongoing networking opportunities similar to the WIRED program www.ccsr.wichita.edu
The composites industry transformation could be accelerated if business and industry would… Incentives • Have access to incentives to invest in composites technology and research • Be able to finance innovation and R&D projects Connection with education/training • Information to secondary level to educate them regarding their future in composites • Communicate to educators where they see hiring in the future, training necessary General awareness • Educate everyone about the wonderful world of Composites. Even if the lesson is a small one the goal should be to help Kansans understand the role of composites in the world today has a huge impact on our local economy. • Continue to communicate with all stakeholders Continue progress made • Insure the progress we have made under the grant continues after the funding is gone. • Continue support efforts past the grant end date. Expand network • Look for new business and industry that deal in composites • Emphasize diverse applications of composites www.ccsr.wichita.edu
Questions for discussion… • What does it mean for the composites network that the business sector sits on the periphery? • What does it mean for the composites network knowing that the structure changes across the three questions ? • What role(s) do core network members serve? • What do changes in collaboration mean? • Open-ended questions reveal several common themes…what are possible steps to take given this feedback? www.ccsr.wichita.edu
