  3. Wild life • The common animals that live in Portugal are wild goat, wild pig, fox, Iberian hare, and deer. The wolf lives in the remote parts of the far north and northeast, and the lynx inhabits the Malcata Mountains. Birdlifeis rich because the peninsula lies on the winter migration route of western and central European species. In the Azores, only the smaller mammals are found—such as the rabbit, weasel, ferret, rat (brown and black), and mouse as well as various types of bats

  4. vegetation • Portugal’s vegetation is a mixture of Atlantic, or European, and Mediterranean (with some African) species. • Lavandulastoechas is probably the greatest choice worldwide; it is found in landscape architecture everywhere in the world • Another native plant that grows very well in this country is Arbutus unedo.The fruit of the plant can be eaten or used to make a very popular alcoholic drink. Leaves and trunk has a reddish taw and fruits change from green to orange and red. • Cistus ladanifer is one of the most tolerant plants. They grow almost everywhere, and their only downside is that their beautiful flower only lasts for a few days.

The Pre-Celts, Celts, Carthaginians and the Romans were followed by the invasions of the Visigothic and the Suebi Germanic peoples. • In the 15th and 16th centuries, Portugal was the country with such notable discoveries as Bartolomeu Dias's reach of the Cape of Good Hope (1488), the Vasco da Gama's sea route to India (1497–98) and the discovery of Brazil (1500). • After the 1910 revolution deposed the monarchy, the democratic but unstable Portuguese First Republic was established.

  8. Traditions • The Portuguese carnival celebrates the beginning of the Lent. • Woman’s day is celebrated on 9th of November and only women can participate. • Domingo de Ramos .It is a tradition that people celebrate by going to church on the Saturday before Easter.
