  1. 9-9 Learning Target • I can deconstruct a Writing On-Demand prompt. • Essential Question: How can I prepare for the PLAN test?

  2. 9-9 DOL • Verbs and nouns • Copy down each sentence. Underline each noun and circle each verb. • The other day, he left one of his paintings on Mr. Ward’s desk where anyone could see it. • We’re supposed to use paper frames for our work. • Mom loves my watercolors and she hung one in the living room, but it isn’t signed.

  3. Independent Reading • As you read, look for words that you don’t recognize. • Reader Response: Identify 3 words that you aren’t familiar with. Use the sentences they are used in to infer what they mean.

  4. Read Aloud • Frankenstein—Ch 1 • Bronx—p. 40 • As we read, keep looking for words that you aren’t familiar with.

  5. Work Period • You have a new prompt with Prompt Analysis Questions. • Working with a partner or by yourself, answer all the PAQs to deconstruct the prompt and figure out what the directions are asking you to do.

  6. Closing Response • What is the last step of analyzing a WOD prompt?
