  5. Implementation • Implement your ideas by April 12, 2012 • Create your Step Up Display (similar to Science Fair) for the preliminary round • Include proof of implementation • Be creative-You can go beyond the display board www.stepuploudoun.org

  7. Preliminary Schedule Step Up is open to the public. Invite your friends and family. www.stepuploudoun.org

  8. Your Display • You will have: • Six foot table • Two Chairs • You may have: • Access to power • Additional Chairs • Additional Space • Email specific needs to kristin.garrett@loudoun.gov www.stepuploudoun.org

  9. The Judging . • A panel of judges will visit your display. • Give your “elevator pitch” to the judges. Plan on 1-2 minutes. • You may include your topic, why you chose it, obstacles overcome, lessons learned, successes etc. • It is your pitch for your project. • Be prepared to answer questions from judges. • Other invited guests, Step Up competitors, friends may also visit your display. www.stepuploudoun.org

  10. Judging Criteria • Presentations will be judged on: • Depth of issue analysis • Quality of the solution • Community Impact • Presentation www.stepuploudoun.org

Tips Practice, Practice, Practice Coordinate presentation if you are a team Develop a project planning calendar Eye catching display Elevator pitch should complement display, not recap it Communicate special display needs such as power to Step Up organizers Take advantage of Step Up resources Business Attire Recommended

The Finals • April 19, 2012 6-9 pm • Finalists will present their implemented plan on stage. • Prepare a power point presentation or other visual aid. • Judges will sit in the audience. • Other community members, parents and Step Up participants are invited. • There may be a brief Q & A with the judges.

  13. Prizes 1st Place: $1000 2nd Place: $500 3rd Place: $250 Forward Turn grants, superlatives, other awards and recognition will also be presented. Note: Team members must share the cash prizes. Prize money is provided via Loudoun Youth, Inc.

Key Dates • Permission Form(s) due now • Implementation Period through April 12 • (Nothing done prior to November 1, 2011 is admissible) • Preliminary Round April 12 • Step Up Display and “Elevator Pitch” • Step Up Presentation (be prepared to be Top 10!) • Final Round April 19 • Presentation on stage • Prepare power point or multi media presentation www.stepuploudoun.org
