The AWO Vocational Training Center Hohegeest The AWO Vocational Training Center Hohegeest is a state-approved vocational training center for elderly care nursing, as well as an accredited institution of advanced training. The elderly care nursing school was opened in 1995. It is located in Lauenburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
The AWO Vocational Training Center Hohegeest The AWO Vocational Training Center Hohegeest offers three areas of education: • Training in elderly care • Training in elderly care instition Management • Further education for disadvantaged young people. Since 2000, we have been involved in EU-projekts.

Information meeting for heads of institutions of elderly care. • The AWO Vocational Training Center Hohegeest invited to an informative meeting of the heads of institutions of elderly care. • The four step PTT-model was introduced. • Discussion about the opportunities culturally sensitive care provides.
Information meeting for heads of institutions of elderly care. • All agreed on three statements: • in the future significantly more migrants will be expected in elderly care institutions. • The nursing staff has to be prepared much better for this task. • Is the PTT-model ready to be used as an advanced training in elderly care facilities? • This will be a task for the near future!

Perspective Currently all freelance teachers have received a questionnaire on the subject of culture sensitive care for the elderly.
Perspective Two things shall be achieved with the questionnaire: • A more intensive debate on the issue of culture sensitive care for the elderly. • A working group culturally sensitive care for the elderly should be established, • also on the e-learning platform ILIAS, connected with the AWO Vocational Training Center Preetz
