MISSION In order to realise our vision, our mission is to ensure the long term future of the MTF by: • Producing and providing a platform for a professional performing and visual arts repertoire that is authentic and artistically excellent; • Developing the next generation of South African performing and visual arts talent; • Engaging, educating and developing a diverse community through the performing and visual arts to become enthusiastic audience members and supporters.

  16. Resource and financial constraints The Market Theatre Foundation benefitted greatly from Lottery funding for the past 10 years. As an organ of state the MTF will not benefit in future. This is a material loss and will have a huge impact on our programmes. We urge DAC to request an amendment. Funding is the no 1 risk for the MTF.

  22. WINDYBROW ARTS CENTRE As from 1 April 2014 the Windybrow Theatre was brought by the DAC under the administration of the Market Theatre Foundation. As from 1 April 2016 the Windybrow Theatre’s Cultural Institution status was revoked and the Windybrow Arts Centre was brought fully under the governance of the Market Theatre Foundation.

  23. WINDYBROW ARTS CENTRE Former staff of the Windybrow Theatre have been assimilated into the staffing compliment of the Market Theatre Foundation; and are employed as per the policies and conditions of service of the Market Theatre Foundation.

  24. WINDYBROW ARTS CENTRE Refurbishments and restoration of the Windybrow Heritage House was completed in July 2016 and the Centre is now being made operational.

  25. WINDYBROW ARTS CENTRE The Market Theatre Foundation is currently recruiting a Head for the Windybrow Arts Centre; who will report directly to the CEO of the Market Theatre Foundation.

  26. WINDYBROW ARTS CENTRE Since making the Windybrow Arts Centre operation the following events have been hosted: • ASSITEJ AGM & Workshop • Wits University Drama Department workshops • MTF Strategy Event • Production rehearsals

  27. WINDYBROW ARTS CENTRE Partnerships being explored with Foreign diplomatic Missions: • Visits by Embassy of Netherlands • Visit by US Embassy • Visit by Embassy of France followed by MOU with Embassy of France

  28. WINDYBROW ARTS CENTRE Africa Month events: • Fete de la Musiek scheduled for May 2017 • Partnerships with locally-centred arts projects and the Market Theatre Foundation

  29. WINDYBROW ARTS CENTRE Fundi Communications case • To set aside the tender award and contract unlawfully awarded to Fundi   • Fundi is suing WAC for R 22 Million. Court date 26 May 2017 for security for costs application. We require an upfront payment of R 600 000 towards fees

WINDYBROW ARTS CENTRE Fundi Communications case • No reply to answering affidavit. We await a date from the High Court.  • The determination of the PFMA application is dependent on the further discovery application. We have answered the further discovery application comprehensively and believe the Court will be with us.
