3. MONDAY • Situation: Meadow Wood (MWE) has been relocated to Westchester (WAIS) this year. How do we get there? • Task: The class will be divided in 2-3 groups. Each will find two routes from MWE to WAIS. Write directions, using landmarks that you will pass along the way. Determine how long each route is in miles. • Process: First, find two routes and highlight them on the map using Paint. Then, find landmarks you will pass. Put them on the map. Write directions from MWE to WAIS including the landmarks. Finally, calculate how long the route is in miles. • Evaluation: Have another group check that they understand the directions and the routes are correct. A rubric will be provided for a check-list of required items. • Conclusion: Present your WebQuest through PowerPoint to the class!

4. WEDNESDAY TUESDAY • Students will find 2 routes from MWE to WAIS. • The map they will use will already be in Paint with a starting and ending point. • Students will put a map of each route in PowerPoint. • Students will use the satellite option on Google maps to find locations they will pass along each route. • They can take screen shots or find pictures of these items on Google. • They will place them on the maps in the appropriate place.

5. FRIDAY THURSDAY • Students will write directions from MWE to WAIS using complete sentences. • They will include the landmarks they pass in the directions. • We have also been learning how to determine mileage on maps in math class. • Students will add up the mileage along each route and find the total. • The teacher will assist in adding with decimals. • Each group will present their PowerPoint to the class. • The class will decide which of the two routes they want to take.

8. Start at Meadow Wood. Turn left on Memorial. You will pass Yorkshire Academy. It is on your left.

9. Turn left when you see a Shell gas station. That street is Kirkwood.

10. Drive north on Kirkwood. You will pass many streets and houses.

11. Later, you will pass Sam’s on the right. Turn right at I-10. You will see a different Shell there. Do not get on I-10.

12. You will see Taco Cabana. Turn right. That street is Patchester. Then, there is a stop sign. Stop and then turn left.

13. Then, you can go into the WAIS parking lot. MWE is in the T-shacks. MWE T-shacks here.

14. How long is route #1? From Meadow Wood to Shell 0.4 miles From Shell #1 to Shell #2 0.9 miles From Shell #2 to Taco Cabana 0.3 miles From Taco Cabana to stop sign 0.1 miles From stop sign to WAIS 0.1 miles TOTAL: 1.8 miles

18. You will see a Metro bus stop on your right. The neighborhood name is Wilchester. Turn left. The street is Wilcrest.

19. Drive north on Wilcrest. You will pass many streets and houses.

20. You will see this sign. The street is St. Mary’s. Turn left. Now, drive down St. Mary’s.

21. You will then pass Wilchester Elementary on your right. Then, there is a stop sign. Stop and then turn right.

22. Turn left behind the Hampton Inn. That street is Patchester. Drive onPatchester.

23. Then, you can go into the WAIS parking lot. MWE is in the T-shacks. MWE T-shacks here.
