What is diabetes? • Type 2 diabetes: • Most common form of diabetes • Body does not use insulin properly • Treated with lifestyle changes, oral medications, and insulin • Type 1 diabetes: • Usually diagnosed in children and young adults • Body does not produce insulin • Affects 5% of people with diabetes • Treated with insulin therapy and other medications
