The Connected Economy The mobile communications industry is creating a ‘Connected Economy’ across the globe, both directly through network investment, job creation and contributions to public funding, and also by transforming adjacent industries such as education, healthcare, payments, transportation and utilities. 2

Building the Connected Economy By 2015 the mobile industry will be responsible for: Revenues: $1.9 trillion Employment: 9.8 million jobs • According to the World Bank, a 10% increase in: • Mobile PenetrationMobile Broadband Penetration Between 2012 and 2015 the mobile industry will: Invest $793 billion in capital Contribute $2.7 trillion to public funds Drives +0.6% GDP in a developed country Drives +0.8% GDP in a developing country Drives +1.4% GDP in low to middle income countries
