Current Programs Demand Response Programs • Load Curtailment • Interruptible Rider • Performance Award for Curtailed Energy (PACE) Automated Metering Infrastructure • Billing • Customer Information Systems • Inter-connection Monitoring
Load Curtailment and Interruptible • Similarities • Customer signs a contract to limit use during events • Customer paid a reservation credit each month • Events limited to: • Between 4 and 8 hrs / event • No more than 100 hrs per year • Differences • Interruptible customers MUST curtail • Curtailment Customers can choose • Perform • Don’t Perform (penalties apply) • Buy-through (Real-time Pricing Customers only)

Automated Metering Infrastructure(Remote Access to a Meter) • Billing • Remote areas • Special Cycles • Interconnects • To other load serving entities • Jurisdiction Metering for COS • Customer Information Services • RateTamer • Customer’s load management system
“The Future” • Meters are evolving (AMR) • IP addressable • Lower Cost • More pathways to get to meter built in • Communications is Evolving (AMI) • Broadband over Powerline (BPL) • Wi-max, dark fiber, 900 MHz • Software approaching end-of-life (MDM) • Can’t handle all the data • Can’t initiate advanced activities (cut-offs)
