Open Captivate 4 • Here are the steps and I will take you through a practical application • Be patient, it takes a couple of minutes • Create Blank Project • Full Screen – 1024 x 768 • Record; next slide • Have your application open • Hit Red Record Button • Screen share to demonstrate this
Record your slides • Every click of the mouse • A simple procedure of selecting a printer made 43 slides. • Review the slide to see what you do not need. • There are many surplus slides in this process • I reduced the final outcome to 9 slides.
Record Audio • Write a script • Click on Audio icon • You will run a sound check first • Then record each slide individually. • Good idea to turn off phones • Be in a quiet area if possible • Remember, this does not have to be perfect
Preview • Preview the Project • This takes a couple of minutes to generate the various options. • The presentation will go through in real time • You will often find that the narration is longer than the slide and you can end up with a blank screen. • You have to ensure all the timeline options are the same length.
Save • If you are creating a project and are not ready to Publish, you save it in the normal manner. • Then it is easy to come back and edit later.
Publish • Project Title • Choose the path – it will try to default to My Docs • Publish • The folder will be created for you • View Output • You will see your Project in real time.
Files for Wikis or TALS • You will have a number of files in your folder. • You will upload the *.swf file – see below • When you upload it to the wiki, do not embed the file, just link to it. This will prevent Captivate starting as soon as you open the wiki page.
Quiz • A quiz is an excellent formative assessment tool • Quiz questions can be varied and self marking • Question types available in Adobe Captivate:

True/False • Here is an example of a true/false • Pose your question • Select the Correct Answer
View Quiz Results • students will be able to view their results. • automatically advised how many correct questions • automatically created in Adobe Captivate after the questions have been completed.
