Vocab 1.Republic- A constitutionally limited government of the representative type, created by a written Constitution adopted by the people 2.Dictatorship- Autocratic form of government in which the government is ruled by an individual, dictator 3.Democracy- All the citizens of a nation together determine public policy

  4. 4.Monarchy- Sovereignty is actually or nominally embodied in a single individual, King or Queen 5.Communism- Government that aims to replace private property and a profit-based economy with public ownership and communal control 6. Theocracy- Official policy is to be governed by immediate divine guidance, priest

  5. Republic Philippines Why would a nation of Islands choose to have a Republic? What benefits come from the Filipinos having a Republic? What disadvantages does the Republic face?

  6. 2. Dictatorship North Korea If you were in charge of $50 million, how much would spend on yourself? What if everyone worships you, and do exactly as you say? Would it be easy to forget about everyone else and just par-tay? *Dictators have complete control and answer to no one

  7. 3. Democracy Turkmenistan Would it be possible for everyone to agree on the same thing? If we changed the school mascot and voted would everyone vote for the same mascot? Dickinson Fire Ants Would anything ever get accomplished?

  8. 4. Monarchy Bhutan How does a person become the King or Queen? Is that a fair way to become a leader of a country? Would you trust ONE person to make every major decision in your life?

  9. 5. Communism China How many of you like to share your food? What if doctors and janitors made equal salaries? If you were given $50 a day no matter what, how hard would you work?

  10. 6. Theocracy Iran Do you have the right to choose your religion, or no religion at all? What if the government forced you to go to church every Sunday and Wednesday? What if you got a ballin job in Iran, but you weren’t Muslim?

  11. Activity!!!!!!!!! Each one of you will be given a number 1-6 Each number corresponds to a certain government We will play a simple game 4. Depending on your government your rules will vary 5. You must keep the balloon off the floor using only your head

  12. Republic #1 We will choose 2 people out of all the #1’s Each #1 will choose one of the two people to back The winner gets a 100 The loser gets a 0 #1’s that backed the winner get a 90 #1’s that backed the loser get a 50

  13. Dictatorship #2 All #2’s will participate I am the Dictator I decide what grade you get depending on how much I like you 4. If you argue your grade, you get assassinated (zero)

  14. Democracy/Free-Enterprise #3 All #3’s participate 1st place gets a 100 2nd place gets a 90 3rd place gets a 80 4th place gets a 70 Everyone else gets a 0

  15. Monarchy #4 All #4’s will participate The tallest person is the King /Queen The King/Queen will determine #4’s grades by their performances Bribing and sweet talking are allowed

  16. Communism #5 • All #5’s participate • All #5’s will receive a 70 • If you argue or are unhappy, you get assassinated (0)

Theocracy #6 All #6’s participate I am your divine leader I will pick one of you to sacrifice to the gods If your balloon touches the ground in under 10 seconds you will disgrace your family honor The winner goes to Heaven, Nirvana, or Vaikuntha and gets a 100 The losers will go to hell or reincarnate into dung beetles and get a 70
