Rectangular coordinates of traverse stations • Using balanced latitudes and departures rectangular coordinates of traverse stations are identified as reckoned from a global or local reference axes • In state and provincial coordinate systems, the X-axis is of often the equator and the Y-axis is a meridian of the earth. • However, especially for limited-scale surveys, the coordinate axes can be assumed • For assumed axes, values are chosen such that the coordinates of all stations will be positive Prepared by: Andre-Paul C.
