3. Choose Various Map Views The GIS Mapping component of IPHIS offers several viewing options. To change map views, follow these steps:
Move the mouse pointer over the globe icon
Click Street Map
4. Choose Various Map Views Click Satellite Map
5. Choose Various Map Views Click Relief Map
6. Apply IPHIS Survey Layers IPHIS allows users to display various layers of information on the screen. This information includes APHIS, NPB, and Cooperator offices, Compliance Agreements, EANs, Diagnostics, Activities, Published Activities, Published Compliance Agreements, and Quarantine Areas. To display layers, follow these steps.
Step 1 Text Box: Click IPHIS Surveys
7. Apply IPHIS Survey Layers Click the arrow next to the type of layer you would like to apply
Select the layers that should display on the screen
8. Apply IPHIS Survey Layers The layers that are selected will display on the map.
9. Display the Overview Map The mapping system provides users with the ability to display a small, overview map to display the area that the larger map is covering. To display the overview map, follow these steps:
Step 1 Text Box: Click Overview Map
10. Display the Overview Map The overview map displays on the right side of the screen.
11. Add/View Bookmarks The GIS system allows users to save bookmarks for future use. To view and add bookmarks, follow these steps:
Click Bookmarks
12. Add/View Bookmarks Click on an existing bookmark to re-center the map
13. Add/View Bookmarks Users can also add new bookmarks for future use. To add a bookmark, follow these steps:
Click the Add Bookmark Icon
Type in the bookmark information. Click Add Bookmark
14. Print Maps Maps can be printed directly from IPHIS for use in the field. To print maps, follow these steps:
Click Print
15. Print Maps Edit the Title and Subtitle if necessary and click Print
16. Print Maps Click Print
17. Save Maps to PDF In addition to printing maps in hard copy, users have the option to export the maps to .pdf. To create a .pdf, follow these steps:
Click PDF
18. Save Maps to PDF Update the title and footer if necessary and click Export
19. Save Maps to PDF Choose the location and file name for the pdf, and click Save.
Please be sure to leave the .pdf extension.
20. Navigate the Maps The Compass icon in the center of the screen contains several options for viewing the maps. To use the navigation functions, follow these steps:
Hover the mouse over the compass icon
Click Zoom In
21. Navigate the Maps Use the mouse to select the area to expand.
22. Navigate the Maps Click Zoom Out
23. Navigate the Maps Use the mouse to select the extent to which to zoom out.
24. Navigate the Maps Click Full Extent
25. Navigate the Maps The view of the map expands to show the entire map.
26. Navigate the Maps Click Re-center Map
The allows the user to pan the map around the screen.
27. Use Locate Function Users can search for specific locations using the Locate function. To find a location, follow these steps:
Move the mouse pointer over the tools icon
Click Locate
28. Use Locate Function Enter the address and click Locate
29. Use Locate Function Users can also search by Latitude and Longitude.
Enter the latitude and longitude and click Locate.
30. Use Locate Function Matching locations display in the Locate screen. Click the location to display it on the map.
31. Use the Draw Function The draw function enables users to calculate the area of a specific location. To calculate area using the draw function, follow these steps:
Click Draw
32. Use the Draw Function Click the Measurements Icon
Click the checkbox to show measurements
33. Use the Draw Function Click the shape to be drawn
34. Use the Draw Function Drag the mouse to create the shape. The area and perimeter will display in the center of the shape.
35. Identify Items on the Map Users can click directly on icons displayed on the map to identify them. To use the identify function, follow these steps.
Click Identify
36. Identify Items on the Map Click the Identify icon
37. Identify Items on the Map Click on the icon to be identified. The information about the icon displays in the identify box. Clicking on the Identify results will return more information.
38. Apply Filters to the Map The mapping module also features the ability to apply filters to the map based on information stored in the system. To apply filters, follow these steps:
Click Filter
39. Apply Filters to the Map Select the layer, criteria, and value to display, and click Apply
40. Apply Filters to the Map The filter that you selected will display on the map and in the filter screen.
41. Display The Legend The IPHIS Mapping component contains a legend to help users identify icons displayed on the map. To open the legend, follow these steps:
Click Legend
42. Display The Legend The legend displays on the right side of the screen and provides and example of each icon, and what it signifies.
43. Display Workbook Locations Users can also choose to diplay locations by workbook. To display workbook locations, follow these steps:
Click Workbook
44. Display Workbook Locations Select the Workbook from the drop down menu
Click Locations to display the locations on the map
