Requirements • Six inch long, 1 inch diameter galvanized iron pipe • Rubber cork • Rope with knots
How to make it Make a hook at top of the pipe Attach rope with knots at 1 meter interval to the hook
How to make it Insert robber cork at bottom of the pipe (one inch from the bottom)
How to use it • Lower the pipe in the borehole • When you hear a distinct ‘plop’ sound the cork has touched the water • With the help of the knots in the rope you can now measure water table depth
This simple water level recorder costs less than five dollars to make. It is not as convenient as a standard water level recorder but nevertheless a very useful instrument to measure water level fluctuations How to use it
