  4. Wisconsin HealthCorpsProgram Goals • Increase access to primary care • Provide health education • Promote public and community health workforce development by providing members with an intensive year of service and professional development in a health care setting

  5. Professional Development Opportunities • Monthly trainings provided by the Program, 4 of which are face to face. Members will also see each other during the group service project and a “closing ceremonies” • Opportunities to attend professional conferences (WPHA or WPHCA Annual Conferences) • Job shadowing opportunities either on-site or through another program host site

  6. Member Expectations • Complete 1700 hours of service over the course of the program year (36 hours/week) • Attend member orientation and all program trainings and events • Program is geared towards those who are considering a career in public or community health • Members represent their Host Sites and the Program professionally at all times

Member Benefits • Living allowance of up to $13,000 • Health Insurance (if eligible) • Dental Insurance (if eligible) • Child Care Benefits (if eligible) • Education Award of $5,550 upon completion of 1700 hours • Loan forbearance and interest repayment on qualified student loans • Year-long immersion experience in public or community health

  8. Minimum Requirements To join AmeriCorps, members must: • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident • Have a social security card • Have a high school diploma • Consent to a state background check and FBI fingerprinting

  9. Frequently Asked Questions • Q: Do I get to choose where my application is sent? • Q: Am I able to obtain additional employment during my term of service? A: Yes, your application can be sent to as many host sites as you would like. A: Yes, you are able to work other jobs during your AmeriCorps service term so long as they do not interfere with your service requirements.
