Internet Governance Task Force(IGTF-J) • Working on the internet governance issues through IGTF-J • About IGTF-J • established in August 2004 • engaged in the activities of the Working Group on Internet Governance(WGIG) • Keeps JP community informed(meeting, MLs) • Comments to WGIG • new IPv6 allocation proposal at WGIG (Nov 24) • Issues papers from WGIG(Feb 2004) ,etc • IGTF-J Website: http://igtf.jp/e/
JPNIC Open Policy Meeting • 7th Meeting held in Yokohama(1st Dec, 2004) • First meeting after the defined policy process • Chaired by Policy WG Chair(Tomohiro Fujisaki) • 74 Attendees • Had welcome attendance by David and Dr. Ku from TWNIC • Major discussions • Future role of WHOIS(panel discussion) • IPv6 Address Policy Change(no consensus), etc

Expansion of IPv6 service • Provide our own RMS and WHOIS service in Japanese • Transfer data from APNIC(thanks to APNIC staff for their efforts!) • Entities only receiving IPv6 allocations will also be eligible as an LIR

Protecting Personal Information • Personal Data Protection law takes effect from April 2005 • Action Items • Revising disclosure of WHOIS data • Clarify information handling and responsibility on public documents • Developing guidelines for LIRs • Define internal policy on handling request and meeting attendees data • Future considerations • Fundamental revision of the role of WHOIS
Clearing up the Historical Resources • Contacting historical resource holders(Dec 2004 – Feb 2005) • Confirm responsibility • Their intention to be under JPNIC/APNIC management • Update APNIC/JPNIC WHOIS • Nearly 3,000 inetnums • Exchange MoU(Mar, 2005) • Password provided for information updates • No fees charged at the moment
