Objective of UNEP.Net • Identify and provide access to high quality, scientific data and information sources;
Observations • Countless disparate on-line databases, clearing house mechanisms, and websites • A culture that uses the internet to publicize achievements or products exist • Not a single mechanism available that can tell us what is available (or what we have).
Therefore Our niche is to put in place a single discovering mechanism that provides access to a subset of available and emerging scientific data and information for our assessment, monitoring and early warning responsibilities
UNEP.Net is defined as… A framework consisting of two distinct utilities: • a discovery mechanism for UNEP and its partners to share and publicise data and information; • enabling tools and processes that enable collaboration and provides access of high quality resources available to it’s stakeholders;
