Greenprinting Overview Greenprinting is using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to make informed, strategic decisions about land conservation priorities. • Incorporates a broad range of conservation goals • Reflects unique community resources and priorities • Utilizes “best available” data and science • Identifies areas offering highest conservation benefit • Models developed using ESRI software • (ArcGIS 9.1 ModelBuilder & Spatial Analyst) • TPL gleans information from over 50 completed Greenprint projects across the country to date

  22. Land Acquisition and Conveyance • Usually performed through a back-to-back transaction • Sometimes a buy and hold, or a lease purchase with a public agency is more appropriate • Ultimate goal is to convey the property to a public agency for management in perpetuity

  23. Conservation Research & Education:Improving Practices TPL conducts research to improve conservation practices and acquire knowledge about conservation issues; TPL shares these findings to create public support for conservation and encourage pro conservation public policy.
