  3. A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones. Proverbs 14:30

  4. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless... (Romans 1:29-31)

  5. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these... but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace... (Galatians 5:19 ff.)

  6. Envy is resentment of the good another person enjoys and is annoyed with (or hates) the other person for having it. Envy is a refusal to accept my creation by God as a finite being “Envy hates the good that evokes its own emptiness. Envy is emptiness in action.”

  7. Oh how blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. You're blessed when you feel you've lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you. Mat. 5:4

  10. O Lord, let Your Holy Spirit so rule my life that I may love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength and my neighbor as myself. Take from me a spirit of comparing and analyzing. Help me instead to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep. Move me from resentment to contentment; from restlessness to peace, that I might know the joy of communion with You and with Your people. Amen.
