  5. ELA IB EXPECTATIONS It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to IB English 8, where excellence is attainable and college is our measuring stick. I am here to assist and guide students as they strive to reach their maximum potential. My goal for your child this final year in middle school is to receive the highest degree of academic excellence and preparation for high school transition through intense studies. Skills will be developed in effective communication, technological competency, and understanding of global society with appreciation and knowledge of the arts. All of these areas of learning will incorporate the development of positive personal vehicles for self-expression strategies needed for successful transition into high school. Your support, as your child’s biggest advocate, is greatly appreciated as we venture into the IB curriculum that will develop the talents, skills, and abilities necessary to attain success. I look forward to working with you soon.

  7. What is International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (IB- MYP) ? The MYP is: • for students aged 11 to 16 • a framework of academic challenge • 8 subject groups, plus personal project in the final year. At CMS kids choose French or Spanish • taught in any language • Includes a community service requirement
