Point 1. Why should you find a family doctor? • - is the main point of contact for you and your family’s healthcare issues. • - refers you to specialists or hospitals for future treatment when necessary. • - manages your family’s health care and provides medical advice.

Point 3. After you find a family doctor… • For registering as a patient at that clinic, you need to bring: (1) SIM Card (2) Health Card (3) Passport (4) PR Card (Photo ID) (5) Others • You and your family members will be asked to take a medical examination including: (1) Blood Test (2) Electrocardiogram (3) Urinalysis (4) Stool Examination (5) Others • From the second time, you need to call your doctor to make an appointment before you go. Please don’t forget to bring your health card.
Point 4. Using walk-in clinics and hospitals For the patients who have family doctors: • When your family doctor is not available. • When you can’t wait for an appointment of your family doctor. • When you are having a small emergency that is not life threatening. • There are 18% of Albertans choosing only to use walk-in clinics and hospitals.
