Intellectual property regulation • The moral rights concerning IP (includingsoftware) belongs to the researcher • The economic rights to IP belongs to the universityifthe IP have been created in the course of work duties, in the course of contractual or employment relationship • The ownership of the IP can be shared according to the contract between ELTE and the partner/company • Researchers are obliged to inform ELTE about new possible inventions • Innovation Center must be involvedineverygrantapplicationinthecase of innovationpotential

Handling of inventions • Decisionontakingpossession of IP, patenting and signinglicenseagreementswill be made bytheBoard of Inventions(within 90 days) • Members: 8 faculties’ vice-deans, vice rectorforscience, chancellor, director of Innovation Center • Meeting or online voting (faster) • ELTE is obligedto patent (ifpossible and proposed) andutilize • ELTE willcovertheexpensesrelatedtotheindustrialpropetylegalprotection • Distribution of income: 60% toinventors; 20% toInnovationRiskFund; 10% to TTO; 10% totheDepartment (wheretheinventorsareemployed)

Role of the Innovation Center • supports the establishment of start-up and spin-offcompanies • supportsthecommercialisation of inventions and know-how • helpsfindingpartnersforresearchand innovationprojects • providesfunding and supportforintellectualpropertyprotection (involvingexperts) • delivers training programs and workshops for theresearchers • introduces an innovationintensive approach in the education

Technologytransfer and commercialization • 2017: signedIP license agreements: 10 • 2017: signed technology transfer agreements: 2 • 2015 – 2018: institutional revenue from IP utilization:50-100.000 EUR. • 2014 – 2017: ~ 80 R&D assignments were given to theuniversity; in 17 cases, the client was an international partner.   18. Technology transfer and commercialization *Most companies operate in the field of natural sciences • 3 in biotechnology, • 1 in IT, • 1 in pharmacy, • 1 in social sciences.

Innovation-related activities • Start-up course for ELTE students (since 2016) aimingto make the entrepreneurial mind-set and businessthinking available for non-business students (2016-2018: 5 courses, 137 participants). • R&D prizes and activities: Researcher Of The Year Prize(since 2009) torecognizeexceptionalaccomplishments and awardresearcherswhousetheirscientificknowledgeforthe benefit of ELTE. • InnovativeStudent Idea Contest(since 2010) toboostinnovationrelatedactivitiesamongstudentst. 15-30 applicantsteachyear, prizemoney being awardedtothebestteams. • ELTE Innovation Day (since 2010): The event is organisedyearly, being a great platform to raise attention of attendees to new technologies. It is one of the biggest Hungarian University addressed platform forinnovative technologies emerging from academy and industry in Hungary.
