Robert Hooke was an English natural philosopher , architect and polymath ho played an important role in the scientific revolution through both experimental and theoretical work. I wanted to pick him because I thought he would be an interesting person to study.
I was a very sick child who was stricken with smallpox at an early age, I was not expected to survive more than a few years. My persistent ill health forced me to remain indoors, where I found amusement in taking apart and reassembling mechanical devices. By my tenth birthday I had become adept at constructing intricate mechanical toys, including working boats and clocks.
Hookes Statement • For the Members of the Assembly having before their eyes so many fatal Instances of the errors and falsehoods, in which the greatest part of mankind has so long wandered, because they relied upon the strength of humane Reason alone, have begun anew to correct all Hypotheses by sense, as Seamen do their dead Reckonings by Celestial Observations; and to this purpose it has been their principal Endeavour to enlarge and strengthen the Senses by Medicine, and by such outward Instruments as are proper for their particular works.
Robert Hooke attended Westminster College, graduating with his master's degree in 1663. Hooke remained at Oxford, where he became assistant to Robert Boyle.
What was Hooke known for? • Robert Hooke didn’t want another job but he did have other ones. No other job suited him. He was famous for his biologic studies. He went to Oxford University to study and enhance his skills for being an artist. He was also appointed as a geometry professor later in his life. His time of biological studies came after Oxford University. During college, he accepted a choice for being Robert Boyle's assistant. There, Boyle taught him almost everything he knew in the field of biology
