4. Nuevo horario y cambios- New hours and changes • Febrero 26 y Abril 30 antes eran días de salir temprano y ahora son días completos para estudiantes. February 26 and April 30wereearlyreleasedays and now are full daysforstudents. • Para reponer los días perdidos por la nieve, el horario escolar se extenderá 30 minutos. Éste cambio es efectivo de Febrero 24 hasta Marzo 28. Esto significa que en vez de salir a las 2:45p.m., los estudiantes van a salir a las 3:15p.m. Después de Marzo 28 el horario escolar regresará a lo que originalmente era y los estudiantes saldrán a las 2:45p.m. otra vez. To make up thedayswemissedbecause of thesnow, theschoolhourshavebeen extended for 30 minutes. Thischangewill be effectivefromFebruary 24 untilMarch 28. Thismeansthatinstead of 2:45p.m., studentswill be dissmissed at 3:15p.m. AfterMarch 28th theschoolhourswillgo back to whattheyweresincethebeginning of theschoolyear and thereforestudentswill be released at 2:45p.m. again.

Tardanzas y Salidas Tempranas – Tardys and earlycheckouts • Las tardanzas comenzarán cuando toque la campana de las 8:00 a.m. Los estudiantes que no estén en el salón a esta hora serán contados como tarde y tendrán que ir a la oficina a buscar un pase de tardanza. Si el estudiante acumula 9 tardanzas se le asignará un día de ISS (suspensión en la escuela). Tardyswillstart at 8:00 a.m. Studentsthat are not in theclassroombythis time willhavetoobtain a tardy slip at the office. 7. Dispositivos electrónicos y vestimenta – Electronics and dresscode • Los estudiantes no están permitidos a usar ó enseñar teléfonos celulares, localizadores, walkie-talkies, iPods, cámaras digitales ó cualquier aparato electrónico en la escuela. 8. Reporte de notas y cartas de retención - Report cards and retention letters • Ustedrecibirá un reporte de notascada 9 semanas para dejarle saber a usted en general cómo le va a suhijo(a) en cadamateria. Entre medioustedrecibirá un reporte de progreso para dejarle saber cómo le va en sustareas y exámenes. You will receive a report card every 9 weeks to let you know in general how is your child doing in each subject. In between you will receive a progress report to let you know how is your child doing in homework and test grades. • Cartas de retenciónseránenviadasjuntocon los estudiantesque se encuentranpordebajo del nivel de sugrado ó que no hanprogresadocomo se supone. Possible retention letters will be sent home with those students under grade level or who have not shown the adequately progress. ¿Quépuedehacer? What can you do? • Búsquealgún amigo(a) ó ustedayúdelo(a) con la tarea ó para repasar para un examen. You or a friend can help him/her study for a test or complete and review the homework. • Tome tiempodurante el fin de semana para repasarconceptos de la semana anterior. Set time aside during the weekend to review concepts from the previous week.

9. ExamenACCESS - ACCESS Test • Los estudiantes en el programa de ESL toman el examen ACCESS 1 veztodos los años para evaluarsushabilidades en Inglés. Students in the ESL program take the ACCESS test 1 time every year to evaluate their English proficiency. • Cuatroáreas son examinadas: Leer, Escribir, Escuchar y Hablar. Four domains are measured: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. • Dentro de lascuatrodestrezas, 5 estándares son cubiertos. Lenguaje de Matemáticas, Ciencias, EstudiosSociales, Artes del Lenguaje, Lenguaje Social y de Instrucción. Within the four domains, 5 standards are covered. Language of Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Social and Instructional Language. • Los resultadosdeterminansi el estudiantecontinúateniendolimitaciones de habilidades en Inglés ó sisusdestrezas son suficientescomo para no recibirservicios de ESL. Results establishes if student still has some limitations with English proficiency or if the skills are satisfactory and does not need services through the ESL program.

10. Exámenes de final de grado 3ero a 8vo grado – End of grade test 3rd to 8th grade (EOG) • Los exámenes de EOG son los que los estudiantes de 3ero a 8vo gradoreciben al final del año. EOG’s are the evaluations students in grades 3-8 receive by the end of the school year. • La escala de calificaciónes del 1 al 4, siendo 1 lo másbajo y 4 lo más alto. El requisitoesque los estudiantesobtengan 3 ó 4. The scale goes from 1 to 4, 1 being the lowest and 4 being the highest. The requirement is that students receive a 3 or a 4. • Las materiasevaluadas son Lectura y Matemáticas. Los estudiantes en grados 5 y 8 tambiéntienequetomar el examen de Ciencias.The subjects that are covered are Reading and Math. For students in grades 5 & 8, they have an additional test in Science. • Éstacalificacióndetermina en gran medidasi el estudiantedebeseraprobado ó sideberepetir el año. This grade is going to be a determining factor whether your child can be promoted to the next grade or retained in the same grade one more year.

11. Portafolio del 3er grado- 3er grade portfolio • Ésteaño los estudiantesqueestán en el tercergradotienen un portafolio de lecturas. Básicamente, hay 12 estándares y son 10 lecturasporcadaestándar. Los estudiantestienenquecontestarpreguntas de cadalectura y pasar con un mínimo de 80% porestándar para pasar. Si los estudiantes no pasan los exámenes de final de año (EOG), se evaluarásuportafolio y se tomaráunadesición en base a eso para versi se puedepromocionar al niño(a) para el próximogrado. Thisyearthird grade studentshave a portfolio of reading. Basically, there are 12 standards and there are 10 passagesper standard. Studentshave to answerquestionsabouteachreading and passthepassagewith at leastan 80%. If a studentdoesnotpassthe EOG test at theend of theschoolyear, a committeewillevaluatethestudent’s portfolio and make a decisionaboutpromotingorretainingthestudent.

12. Evaluaciones de Kinder a 2do – Kindergarten through 2nd grade Evaluations • Los estudiantes de k-2 toman evaluaciones de acuerdo al nivel de ellos.
