…is one of the strongest statements of desire or action that we can make! • The word “will” implies making a choice or a decision, resolving with force, determining, or trying to induce something to happen. • It is a resolution of power!
However, while “I will” implies wanting to do something… • Sometimes intentions and actions are far apart! • Even when we want to do something, we may be powerless to change the outcome of our situation.
There are components we sometimes forget about the things we “will” • In looking more closely at “I will”, we’ll examine: • The mistaken goals of Satan • The broken commitments of man • The true promises of God
Isaiah 14:12-13 “‘How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! 13 For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God’”
Isaiah 14:13-14 “I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; 14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ 15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the lowest depths of the Pit.”
Revelation 20:10, 14-15 “The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” “Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”
Job 1:11,22; 2:5, 10 • “But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!” • “In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong.” • “But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse You to Your face!” • “In all this Job did not sin with his lips.”
Matthew 26:41; 7:21 • “The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” • “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
Matthew 19:5-6 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’ ? 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Matthew 26:30-32 “And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. 31 Then Jesus said to them, ‘All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ 32 But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.’”
Matthew 26:33-35 “Peter answered and said to Him, ‘Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.” 34 Jesus said to him, ‘Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.’ 35 Peter said to Him, ‘Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!’ And so said all the disciples.”
Matthew 21:28-31 “But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go, work today in my vineyard.’ 29 He answered and said, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he regretted it and went. 30 Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, ‘I go, sir,’ but he did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to Him, ‘The first.’”
Jeremiah 24:7 “Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.”
2 Corinthians 6:16 “For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.’”
2 Corinthians 6:17-18 “Therefore ‘Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.’ 18 ‘I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.’”
2 Corinthians 7:1 “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
John 14:1-4 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
For those who have not committed themselves to the Lord, you have an opportunity to say “I will” like all those who faithfully obeyed before you!
Acts 8:36-37 “Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, ‘See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?’ 37 Then Philip said, ‘If you believe with all your heart, you may.’ And he answered and said, ‘I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.’”
