  1. Preparing For Kindergarten Success:Kindergarten Orientation 2012 Procedures with Mrs. Robertson

  2. Meet Mrs. Robertson My name is Mallory Robertson and this is my second year teaching Kindergarten at Willard North.  I graduated from Evangel University in 2010 with a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education.  I am currently working on attaining my Masters Degree from William Woods University in Educational Administration. I have been married to my wonderful husband for over a year now.  In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my amazing family and friends, playing golf, reading, and just relaxing with a good cup of coffee.

  3. Breakfast • Arrive as early as 8:20 a.m. • Pay for meals by sending check or cash to the classroom in the morning. • Breakfast prices are $1.00 (full price unless you qualify for a reduced program) and an extra milk is $0.35.

  4. Conferences • Parent teacher conferences will be held at the end of the first quarter. • If you would like to have a conference at any other time to discuss your child’s progress, please contact your child’s teacher and she will be happy to schedule one. • All teachers have an open door policy and it is important we have open communication with you about your child’s progress.

  5. Dismissal • School is dismissed at 3:00 on Monday and 3:30 Tuesday through Friday. • At Meet the Teacher you will have the opportunity to let your child’s teacher know how your child will be going home (car, bus, walk or Tiger Tales). • If it is necessary for your child to ride home with someone who does not normally pick them up or get home in a different way, a written note must be provided for the office.

  6. Dismissal Parents who will be picking their child up by car: • Students will be picked up at the South doors unless they have a sibling in 2nd grade or above. These students will be picked up at the East doors. • Write your child’s name on a pick up card (this will be given to you at Meet the Teacher) and hang it from your rear view mirror so that the teachers can read it. • You will be prompted to pull forward to a certain spot, and your child will be put in the car for you.

  7. Lunch • Lunches (like breakfast) should be paid for by bringing cash or check to the classroom. • Students will have 25 minutes to eat lunch. • Lunch prices are $1.85 (full price unless you qualify for the reduced price.) Extra milk is also $.35.

  8. Meet the Teacher & Open House Open House Meet the Teacher: • Date To Be Announced • Visit your classroom and see some of the exciting work your child has done! • We will send more information as this approaches! • Tuesday, August 14th • 6:00-6:30 pm • Your child will have the opportunity to meet their teacher and their classmates. • Please bring school supplies on this night.

  9. Restroom Breaks • At the beginning of the year, we will take several restroom breaks throughout the day. • Students may also visit the restroom by themselves if the teacher is not teaching a lesson. • Please let your child’s teacher know if your child must use the restroom frequently, or if your child has accidents often. • Some parents choose to keep an extra set of clothing in their child’s backpack just in case.

  10. Snacks • Each month we will send home a snack calendar in your child’s Take Home Folder. • On your child’s snack day, please send enough snacks for every student in the classroom along with 1 extra just in case. • Snacks cannot be homemade but do not have to be individually wrapped. • Please send any utensils that the snack may require.

  11. Positive Behavior Support - GRR • GRR is our school wide discipline system. • Our goal is to help children learn to make good behavior choices and take responsibility for their choices. • Each day you will get a behavior report to let you know about your child’s choices. Purple—Excellent!! (I went above and beyond the expectations!) Blue—Great! (I met all expectations today.) Green—Oops (I was given a warning for my behavior. –Safety Seat) Yellow—Caution (I was given a warning and my behavior did NOT stop! -Buddy Room) Red—Stop! (I had to call home. -Focus Room)

  12. Take Home Folders • Each day your child will bring a folder home. • Please check this folder for important papers such as permission slips, student work, and other notes. • Folders should be sent back to school the following day. • Please remove all papers from your child’s folder daily.

  13. Volunteers • We love to have parent volunteers! • All volunteers must complete a background check prior to working with our students. • Until approved, you will not be permitted to supervise and/or work with children. • There will be a sign up sheet at Meet the Teacher and Mrs. Stevens will hold a volunteers training.

  14. Supplies • You should have received a supply list when you got here this evening! • Supplies that are not on the list will be sent home. • We may be asking for more supplies later in the year, IF we run out of things. • Please do not write your child’s name on the supplies.
