  2. AIM Decrease Chapter 51 Emergency Detentions Focus on Crisis Team Processes Project Length: April-October, 2011

  3. CHANGE #1 • Voluntary admission is considered and explained clearly to the individual #2 • Collaboration with a Crisis Supervisor is required when considering an emergency detention #3 • Delaying the chapter 51 on individuals that are unconscious at the time of admission and cannot be assessed by Crisis Responder #4 • Increase Crisis Responder’s access to consumer specific information to help with decision making

  4. RESULTS • Baseline – 34% of contacts result in Ch. 51 • 1st Change - 30% improvement - Adopt • 2nd Change – no change – Adopt • 3rd Change – What happened? • 4th Change – Back to baseline

  5. NEXT STEPS Crisis Team • Continue to train new staff in these processes Crisis Program • Continue to establish consistent practices in other areas of crisis assessment • Continue to collaborate with community stakeholders, especially Law Enforcement and Hospital staff Crisis System
