What is the Post Foundation? • A collaboration between the Postum Club and the Battle Creek Community Foundation to continue the legacy of C.W. Post. • The vision of the Foundation is to create a permanent endowment that will lend a hand in shaping and encouraging positive environments and activities of the greater Battle Creek area.
What is an Endowment Fund? • A fund that is established for a specific purpose(s). The gifts to the fund are permanently invested • Grants, which are directed by the Foundation Advisory Board, are made from the earnings generated by the investments.
Goals Short Term Collaborate with the Battle Creek Community Foundation to help build the Post Foundation Establish the Post Foundation to remain in the Battle Creek community Position Post Foundation (PFBC) to have the ability to become independent (self-sustaining) Raise $5,000 to establish the endowment Raise $15,000 for the Franklin Elementary Project Long Term • Yearly community project • Build the endowment assets to eventually become independent & sustainable • Expand the impact on community initiatives • Develop broader community relationships • Communicate with the Post Foods Employees’ Family & Community (retirees, active employees, younger generation(s) to come, and relatives of all these groups)
Our 1st Community Act Franklin Elementary History How WE Plan on Helping Replace out of date playground equipment Provide children with clothing, shoes, and personal hygiene supplies Fund the purchase of necessary school supplies Fund and participate in school sponsored programs • Franklin Elementary was established in 1857 and has been in its current location in the Franklin Post neighborhood since 1978 • When Post Elementary closed in 2008, over 100 students joined the nearby Franklin Elementary • Roughly 95% of the current student body is enrolled in the reduced or free lunch program
Campaign Details The campaign runs NOW through spring 2011 and donations can be made by: • Filling out a contribution form • Automatic withdrawal from PCCU Post Community Credit Union (Retirees Only) • Check withholdings (payroll deduction), cash or checks • Securities (annuities, stocks, insurance policies, etc.) • Making an online gift at www.bcfoundation.org To make a Post Foundation gift as part of your estate, contact the Battle Creek Community Foundation (BCCF) @ 269-962-2181.
