HISTORY • First Feature-Length Animated Film, Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) • This led to a vast library of animated films from Walt Disney Pictures, the majority of which have been praised by critics and audiences alike • Include such films as Aladdin (1992), Beauty and the Beast (1991) and The Lion King (1994) • In 1995, Pixar Studios released the first computer animated film, Toy Story, which was distributed by Walt Disney Pictures • This led to a surge in popularity of films animated using CGI technology, notably by companies such as Pixar and films such as Shrek (2001) which was released by Dreamworks Pictures • Other forms of animation include stop-motion animation, popularised in film’s such as Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride (2005)
