  5. International System of Units (SI unit) • The system of units used by scientists to measure the properties of matter.

  6. Length • How long an object is. • It is measured in meters.

  7. Weight • A measure of the force of gravity on an object. • Measured in pounds (lbs).

  8. Mass • A measure of how much matter is in an object. • Measured in grams (g).

  9. Volume • The amount of space that matter occupies. • Measured in liters (L). • V = length (cm) x width (cm) x height (cm) • SI unit is cubic centimeters

  12. Metric Conversion Rules: • If there is no decimal in the number, put one at the end. 98  98. 2. If there are no numbers for the decimal to move around, add zero’s. 98. (3 places to right)  98.
