Naviance/Family Connection • All students must have an account • Go to the N/FC Website: N# and PIN • Your email address is required • If using the Common Application you need to sign the FERPA and match your accounts(more later) • Request Teacher recommendations • Keep your list current! All colleges must be added to your list

  3. State University System • SUS matrix 2013-2104 • SUS update in 2 weeks • UF and FSU now academic self-report • No recommendations required (except for New College)

  4. Florida State University • FSU Early Deadline October 15th • Complete application early if interested • Focus on writing a strong essay • SSAR(first year) – you will receive an academic transcript within the next week to help you complete this • Must add to Naviance/FC list (in order for us to send your mid-year) • Keep posted (SUS update in 2 weeks)

  5. University of Florida • November 1st Single deadline! • Again, strong essay and interest • Summer session - SUS matrix • SAR completed by December 1st • Must add application to Naviance/FC list (in order to send final report)

  6. Other SUS campuses • All Priority Rolling Admissions • Apply early for priority scholarship and admissions consideration. Fall. • Merit scholarship andHonors College opportunities • Visit campuses, if possible • Include in Naviance/FC list

  7. Bright Futures 2015-16 • Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) • GPA 3.5 weighted (recalculated) • SAT 1290( CR/M) or ACT 29 • 100 Community Service Hours • Florida Medallion Award • GPA 3.0 weighted (recalculated) • SAT 1170(CR/M) /ACT 26 • 75 Community Service Hours

  8. Bright Futures 2015-16 • Improve ACT or SAT scores if close • All seniors will sign up in January here at Pine View • Community service hours should be in place by March

  9. If you are applying to Florida Public Universities only • There is no urgency to meet with me (unless you or your parents wish), but please let me know. • You are free to leave…

  10. Private College/University Applicants • Early v. Regular Admissions deadlines • Common Application (500+ schools) • Most require 2 teacher recommendations and 1 guidance • Transcript Request process

  11. Early Decision/Early Action • Binding v. Non-Binding • Only seriously considered, first choice colleges • Multiple EAs is not advantageous • Most deadlines are November 1st • You must meet with me in advance of the October 1st transcript request and teacher recommendation deadlines

  12. Common Application • Begin Common Application ASAP • Complete all Education fields and apply • You will then sign the FERPA waiver and match your Common Application account to Naviance(see PVS website for instructions)

  13. Teacher Recommendations • Ask teacher recommenders NOW! • Provide each teacher a complete list of colleges for which you are requesting recommendations (Teacher Rec form) • This form is due to Teachers by October 1stfor Early admissions plans, November 15th for Regular Decision

  14. Transcript Request • In order for transcripts and Pine View materials to be sent to colleges you must complete a transcript authorization form. • The transcript form for all Early admissions colleges is due by October 1st. The Regular Decision deadline for form submission is November 1st

  15. Miscellaneous • Enter all applications onto Naviance/Family Connection • Submit all applications early • Some of you may be eligible for application fee waivers and/or college fly-in programs. Please consult the PV website or see me
