  2. Definition of PI • Severe orthopedic impairment that adversely affects a student’s educational performance • MET • Orthopedic surgeon • Internist • Pediatrician • Family physician or other approved physician

Definition of OHI • Limited stregnth, vitality, or alertness, including a heightened alertness to environmental stimuli, which results in limited alertness with respect to the educational environment • Could be due to one of the following health problems or that the impairment adversely affects a student’s educational performance • Asthma • ADD • ADHD • Diabetes • Epilepsy • A heart condition • Hemophilia • Lead poisoning • Leukemia • Nephiritis • Rheumatic fever • Sickle cell anemia

Accommodations • elevator, or wheelchair sidewalk. • Allows people to get from point a to point b • Note takers and note taking • Allows people to listen to class if they can not multi-task. • It also helps the physically impaired to be able to get the notes as well. They can feel included. • An environment which minimizes fatigue and injury. • Putting rubber on the edges of corners or leaving open spaces for them to walk. • Flexible attendance requirements • For people who have to miss school because of their health issues

  5. Picture Communication Board • Gives a voice to those who cannot speak. • Helps the user to communicate a variety of emotions and needs by touching the correct picture. • Used in homes, hospitals, rehabs, and assisted living communities.

Eye Tracking Device • The ESGD speech generating device. • The EyeTech TM3 allows access to the ETSGD with your eyes. • Eye tracking technology uses a combination of an eye-tracker device to capture a person’s eye motion and software.   7. Magic Arm • A multi-jointed mounting system for attaching communication aids or other assistive devices. • The base clamp attaches securely to just about anything: wheelchair tubing, tables, etc. • This arm is infinitely adjustable and locks in place. • The Magic Arm supports up to 5 pounds.
