Aphasia Training for Health Professionals Thursday October 16th – Grandview Lodge, Dunnville Registration 0830 Workshop 0900 – 1630 h • Target Audience: • You will benefit from this workshop if you: • are a Health Professional (non-speech language pathologist) working with stroke clients across the continuum • wish to learn techniques to communicate more effectively with clients with aphasia Continuing Education Credits: A personalized certificate of attendance will be given to all participants. This certificate can be used to obtain continuing education credits according to each profession’s rules and regulations. • Course Objectives: • To increase knowledge & enhance the capacity of health professionals to meet the needs of their clients with aphasia through practice and aphasia-friendly materials and communication strategies. • To provide practical strategies and techniques to improve your assessments and interventions and facilitate conversation with clients with aphasia. • To provide opportunities to practice strategies and techniques learned in the workshop through role-playing and group discussion and feedback. • Course Registration: • There is no fee for this workshop. • Registration includes lunch and refreshments and participant handouts. • Call 751-5544, ext. 2466 to reserve your spot by October 6, 2008.
