Holiday homework Use your notes to complete a new wiki entry. If you have not completed your entry for the Ancients, go back and do it as well. The guidance for writing your entry is the same as the one you should have stuck in the back of your book, but it is on the next slide of this Powerpoint. YOU SHOULD WRITE THE EQUIVALENT OF A DETAILED, SUBSTANTIAL PARAGRAPH. THIS MAY NOT BE IN ONE SINGLE PARAGRAPH, BUT THE DETAIL AND QUANTITY IS IMPORTANT. Remember to use things like bold, underlining and italics to add emphasis to certain points. You can also start to embed image sources if you can find them on the internet. Please only use genuine and useful images. Anything silly will be taken down. Feel free to add anything else to the wiki that you think might be useful, particularly any words in the Glossary that I have missed.
Editing Writing • Be bold – the aim is to improve every entry to A* level! • Ensure spelling, grammar and punctuation is excellent and the writing is very clear and readable. • Ensure all the requirements of the “writing” instructions are met. • Make additions and changes as you feel necessary. • Ensure the layout is clear – separated sections/paragraphs? Bullet points? • Is everything clearly linked to the history of medicine? Remove anything that isn’t, i.e. general information. • Add any specific examples that you can. • Check for length – is it detailed enough but not too wordy? • Introduce the topic in one or two sentences. • Explain significance to medical history. Progress? Limiting factors? – Good detail here please! • Give some detailed information/examples • Use key vocab correctly • Use your notes for information and your own words. Use the internet to check details but NOTHING should be copied and pasted. • Use bold and italics to highlight anything that is particularly important • Suggest any linked topics. • Look at “Ancient Egypt -> Wealth” for an example.
