Humpback whales are one of the largest baleen whales at 40-50 feet long and weighing up to 79,000 pounds! They are well known for their ‘songs’ and acrobatic leaps out of the water. Joes represented four of the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces with the Action Soldier (Army), Action Sailor (Navy), Action Pilot (Air Force) and Action Marine (USMC). "G.I. Joe" stood for "General Issue Joe" signifying the universal makeup of the US forces at the time. The original 12" G.I. Joe line ended in America in 1976. At this time, Hasbro released a line of inexpensive, rotationally molded mannequins in the G.I. Joe style called "The Defenders“. The development of G.I. Joe led to the coining of the term "action figure“.
