CardCam A kit for designing and making your own CAM inventions
About CardCam • A kit for making a CAM mechanism • Supplied as a sheet of pre-cut parts • Corrugated card pieces push out easily • Assembled with just glue • Comes with Offset Circle, Snail, Twin Lobe and Pear CAMS • Parts can be drawn round as Templates for Modelling designs before constructing
Teaching CardCam • CardCam pieces can be used as templates so students can experiment with different CAM actions • CardCam is low cost, and allows students to discover what CAMs can DO, rather than struggling to make them work
Using as a Template - 1 Draw round a front or back piece
Using as a Template - 2 Line up a spacer over this drawing, and draw round it also
Using as a Template - 3 Line the Cam and the follower up and draw round them
Using as a Template - 4 Add your own design to be operated by the Cam / Follower
Free Resources • Assembly Presentation to use with students • Blank Design Worksheets • Assembly Instruction sheet • Teachers one page hint sheet • Teachers in-depth help guide
What it can do… • Students construct the CardCam base and then use it to animate their own designs • CardCam can be layered so more than one CAM mechanism is running off one crank handle, giving students the option to develop more complicated mechanisms
