History of travel cards in Finland • 1988 first contact cards in use • 1991 the first pilot with contactless cards • 1992 the first contactless card based system in use • 2001 contactless cards in use in Helsinki area • At the moment contactless or dual interface cards are in use everywhere except State Railways (in long distance traffic) • The number of cards in use is almost 2.0 M • Single tickets based mainly on paper tickets • Mobile phones can be used in Helsinki as a single tickets in rail and as a tourist ticket in Turku

  4. Used technologies • Contact cards • Contactless cards • Idesco (low frequency technology) • Mifare Classic 1K, Ultralight • Desfire 4K • Dual Interface cards • The new systems will be based on ISO 14443 standards

  10. eTicket-concept • Time based ticket product • The ticket is able to be stored into: • Card for single use • Travel Card for separate ticket product and • Mobile phone.

Singapore – check in / check out • Payment system is based on the distance of the journey • distance in kilometres, • 0,8 kilometres / share • The funds provision is made in the beginning of the journey via checking in • varies according to the mode of transport and lines, • paying attention to the customer group, • time of the day is also effected. • The final price at the end of the journey via checking out. • Travel changes are under compensation
