How to be successful in AP Euro • Read the book • Read the book • Listen to what I am telling you • Ask questions • Don’t try to memorize everything in the book • Do the bonus outlines for the tests • Be flexible • Think for yourself, trust yourself • Be here (8thpdprobs) • Don’t focus on the grade, focus on the learning • Read the book
Technological Considerations • TurnIt In • Google • Need to set up, we will use it • Moodle • If Google doesn’t work like I want • Online study guides • Encouraged to pick one and use it! • I prefer “http://socialscientist.us/nphs/euroguides.htm”
THE Test • Friday 8 May at 12:00 • Part I: 80 MC questions in 55 minutes • ~ ½ 1450 – Napoleon • ~ ¼ 19th century • ~ ¼ 20th century & beyond • About evenly divided between politics/diplomacy, social/economic, and cultural/intellectual
THE Test • Part II – Free response (15 + 120 minutes) • A. DBQ – 45% • Scored 1-9 • 10-12 documents • Get up to an 8 w/o any outside information • B. & C. FRQ – 55% • TWO essays • Pick one of three choices for eac
Where are we going? • Chapter 1 test on Friday • Tests will be about 1 ½ - 2 weeks apart (longer for combined chapters) • Napoleon by Christmas • End of WW2 by mid/late April • Will do best to announce test dates at the beginning of the unit or earlier • Have a trip or going to be out? Let me know!
Handouts • You should have the following: • PERSIA Guide (read it, know it, love it) • FRQ & DBQ Rubrics • Social History Guide (AP loves this for FRQ’s)
