Abstract ___ Present, comprising a brief synopsis of the entire work described in the poster; one or two paragraphs in length ___ Understandable without reading the entire poster ___ Includes (1) purpose of the study, (2) brief statement of what was done (without including details of the methods), (3) concise statement of major findings, and (4) major conclusions Note Regarding This Template: This very basic science poster template is based upon ANLSAMP guidelines and contains only the essential elements. The black text represents the required elements. The blue text represents the criteria for each element as required by AIHEC and AISES during their student poster competitions. You may also wish to add images and address other design and formatting considerations in order to design an excellent poster. This comment box may be deleted after you have read it. Results ___ Includes summary of the data ___ Includes results of any statistical tests ___ All results presented, whether positive or negative ___ If present, table or figure may substitute for a written summary as long as each table or figure has a legend that explains the graphic clearly Poster Title___ Title is at top of the poster, short and very descriptive of the project; for empirical studies, including name(s) of organism(s) studied; and easily readable at a distance of about 4-5 feet (words about 1.5-2.5 cm tall) Discussion ___ Includes interpretation of results with respect to the original question ___ Results interpreted without being repeated ___ Includes conclusions about answers to questions that motivated the research as indicated in the introduction ___ If appropriate, includes explanations for unexpected results Introduction ___ Presents question being explored placed in the context of current knowledge about the topic ___ Starts with general context and proceeds to specifics, ending with a precise statement of the question or hypothesis being addressed by the study ___ Convinces the reader of the significance of the study ___ Is brief but includes important points indicating the relevance of the work Note Regarding Graphics and Layout: Illustrations, tables, figures, photographs or diagrams should have unique identification numbers and legends. Text should include references to specific graphics or pictures. Legends should include full explanation and where appropriate, color keys, scale, etc. All images should be presented in appropriate layout and size relative to text. The layout should provide a strong visual impact but not be crowded. There should be indication of flow of the poster (top to bottom, left to right).
